10.01.2025 – On Friday morning, January 10, the Federal Administration was affected by a disruption of its’ IT systems for about 45 minutes due to an ongoing DDoS attack. Among other things, telephony, Outlook, various websites and specialized applications of the federal government were affected. The situation was stabilized because of immediate countermeasures.
The aim of a DDoS attack is to overload websites and applications with targeted requests to such an extent that they can no longer be accessed. No data is transferred during a DDoS attack. The FOITT and NCSC are jointly analyzing the attack and defining further appropriate measures.
