24.11.2024 – Since the early hours of the morning, the website of the Canton of Schwyz has been the target of an overload attack, a so-called DDoS attack. The attack is still ongoing and is currently causing the websites of various municipalities in different cantons, as well as various cantonal websites, to be unavailable. No information is currently available regarding the motivation.

Nothing is currently known about the motivation for the attack. Nor has any connection been established with today's voting. So far, no blackmail note or similar has been received. The NCSC is in contact with the provider backslash.ch, which is currently working with the hosting provider on defense measures
DDoS attacks target the availability of websites and services. According to current knowledge, there are no indications of a breach of the integrity or confidentiality of data from the affected authorities and municipalities.
