17.03.2022 - The NCSC is currently receiving many enquiries about the use of foreign IT products. Here is a brief summary of the most important information from the NCSC.
Businesses, public authorities and private individuals are responsible for cybersecurity. It is up to them to choose the products they use for this purpose. The associated cyberthreat risk assessment is an important task in this regard.
To ensure the best possible protection against cyberthreats, it is necessary to follow the most important basic rules in cyberspace. It is vital to implement basic protection. Aside from the use of antivirus protection, an active firewall and the regular installation of security updates, this also includes protecting remote access, ensuring access security by means of two-factor authentication, and raising employee awareness.
In connection with the current events in Ukraine, questions have been raised about IT manufacturers of Russian origin. In principle, the NCSC does not issue any recommendations on the use of products. Although there is always the possibility of states influencing software development or manipulating products, the NCSC is currently unaware of any misuse of Kaspersky antivirus software. However, this may change depending on the course of events. If the NCSC had evidence of this, it would alert and inform the public accordingly.
No misuse of Kaspersky antivirus software in Switzerland has been reported to the NCSC to date. If the NCSC receives verified information about misuse, the public will be informed and alerted immediately.
