Exchange with the Swedish Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin in Bern

12.11.2024 - Today, President Viola Amherd and Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin received Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin for an exchange on current security policy issues. Cybersecurity was also addressed. During the exchange with the director of NCSC, Florian Schütz, it was shown how the public administration, the private sector and researchers are working together to strengthen Switzerland's resilience to cyberthreats.

At the meeting between Ms Amherd and Mr Bohlin, the current security situation and the consequences of Russia's attack on Ukraine using hybrid warfare were discussed. The focus was on strengthening defence capabilities and building the population’s resilience against influence activities and disinformation.

Cybersecurity has also been on the agenda of the exchange. During  the exchange with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), it was shown how the public administration, the private sector and researchers are working together to strengthen Switzerland's resilience to cyberthreats. In addition to the organisational structure of the NCSC, the National Cyberstrategy (NCS) and the current threat situation were discussed.

Following this visit, Mr Bohlin was briefed by Mr Parmelin on the measures taken with regard to national economic supply (NES) in response to the change in the security situation in Europe.

During his visit to the Federal Office for National Economic Supply (FONES), Mr Bohlin was also able to gain a deeper insight into the work of the office and how Switzerland’s NES is based on a close partnership between the state and the private sector.
